Which are the best shingles for roofs?

We use Owens Corning and CertainTeed shingles architectural style shingles for our roof installations. Architectural shingles also go by the names dimensional, lifetime, and 30-year type shingles. We prefer to install this type of shingle because it lasts longer and is more durable than the 3-tab shingle style. A new roof is a big investment that's why we use synthetic felt underlayment instead of tar felt paper. The reason for this is that synthetic felt is a much stronger, durable material that provides better water-shedding properties. Synthetic felt provides better protection for the roof. 

Both Owens Corning and CertainTeed have similar color choices. We provide color samples to help our customers match shingle color to the color scheme of their homes. 

We offer gutter installation services.

We provide a full analysis of the roof design when we are replacing a roof. The reason for this is that sometimes the design of the roof forces significant amounts of water onto different areas due to the number of valleys on the roof. This large volume of water can damage the roof by displacing shingle granules and causing the shingle to deteriorate prematurely. We also look at the drainage along the perimeter of the home for signs of washout or areas of water pooling along the foundation. 

If any of these conditions exist, we recommend a gutter system to divert water away from specific areas of the roof and away from the foundation. We also let each homeowner know about water storage in rain barrels. South Texas rains are sometimes few and far between. I know. I tried growing a vegetable garden this summer. That did not go very well. 

Gutter colors can be closely matched to existing colors of trim and siding. Exact color matching is difficult but manufacturers have designed color options that are close to most trim and siding colors. The colors are baked into the aluminum.
